I dreamed I saw the end of war
as real as you and me.
I cheered the soldier’s march through town,
without artillery,
without artillery.

The day had come to live as one
in love and ecstasy,
to solve our problems without force,
without animosity,

The leaders heard the people plea,
and hugged each other close,
then tossed the bombs and threw the planes
into the open sea,

Then I awoke to familiar screams
of yet another TV casualty.
I understood that those in power
could never live peacefully,
